What is a product page?

A product page is the page dedicated to a single item for sale, holding everything a shopper needs to decide and the control that adds it to their cart.

Technical definition

A product page carries the product name, price, images, description, variant selectors such as size or color, stock status, delivery information, and an add-to-cart control. Product schema markup lets search engines display price, availability, and review rating directly in results.

Each product needs its own URL. Variants handled through query parameters on a single page can create duplicate content issues, which is why platforms define a canonical URL per product and treat variants as parameters of it.

In plain terms

One page, one thing you sell, and every answer a person needs before they will pay for it.

Price, what it looks like from more than one angle, what size it is, when it arrives, and what happens if they want to send it back.

Why it matters

Product pages fail by omission rather than by design. A shopper who cannot find the dimensions, the delivery time, or the returns policy does not email to ask. They open a competitor's tab.

Three things repay attention first. Photograph the product from the angles a shopper would turn it in their hands, including scale. Write the description around what the product does for someone rather than its specifications alone, and keep the specifications too, since people search for them. And put delivery cost and timing on this page, not three steps later. Every question you answer here is a reason not to leave.
