How NetDoctor is closing a healthcare access gap in Argentina

Martin F. spent 20 years in Argentina's healthcare industry, in sales for the medical wholesale company his father founded. He holds a journalism degree, a master's in technology and informatics, and he's pursued a nursing degree too. When the pandemic hit, he watched health tech carry the US and Europe through the crisis, and he saw how little of that infrastructure existed at home.

A big idea, four years on the shelf

Argentina's medical specialists cluster in a handful of capital cities, and patients often travel hours to see anyone outside general medicine. Martin knew a telehealth marketplace could close that gap. He reached out to software companies and professional developers, and their quotes on timeline and price were out of reach. That much upfront risk wasn't a bet he wanted to make, so the idea sat for four years.

Then vibe coding arrived. Small-business use of generative AI jumped from 23% to 58% in two years (U.S. Chamber of Commerce), mostly for website upgrades and marketing workflows. Martin used it to build his vision instead.

"I found Bolt and Bolt found me," he said.

Security first

Healthcare software doesn't forgive casual mistakes, and patient data carries legal weight everywhere it travels.

"You really have to know the subject you are diving into," Martin said. "Especially in healthcare, those are real risks. There's not a lot of room for mistakes here."

What convinced him to start wasn't a feature demo. It was the compliance posture underneath: Bolt.new builds on Supabase, which is SOC 2 certified and supports HIPAA workloads, and deploys through Netlify. "That gave me a lot of sense of safety," he said. For a solo founder handling patient interactions, the security architecture was the permission he needed to begin.

From his first session to a shipped MVP took three months. He worked alone, learning the vocabulary as he went, switching between AI agents inside Bolt.new depending on the task: lighter models to rough out scaffolding, heavier ones to optimize what mattered.

The audit that proved the build

NetDoctor's consultations run through Zoom's HIPAA-eligible infrastructure with OAuth authentication, which meant the platform had to pass Zoom's marketplace review: a full audit against international standards, over multiple rounds of feedback. Few health apps clear that bar. NetDoctor did. By Martin's count, checked every couple of days, it's the only health-tech app from an individual builder in Argentina in Zoom's marketplace.

Payments run through Mercado Pago, the region's dominant fintech, chosen for its split-payment handling and reach across South America.

One week, a hundred applications

To launch, Martin posted NetDoctor on a single Argentine job board, inviting psychologists, nutritionists, psychiatrists, and general practitioners to claim a virtual practice. The post drew almost 2,000 views and more than 100 applications in the first week.

He didn't approve them all. Every provider goes through manual credential review, and that process has already caught applicants who weren't providers at all. Three months after public launch, NetDoctor has 90 approved providers, ten more in review, and 50 patients, every one of them arriving through their own provider.

A commission, not a subscription

NetDoctor charges no subscription. Providers pay a 5% commission on completed consultations, and a no-show costs nothing. The system Martin built to enforce this, which he calls deterministic health infrastructure, tracks one thing: whether both parties checked into the session. It never touches clinical data.

"SaaS demands that you have to pay a fee every month and you're tied to that," Martin said. "People don't want that anymore."

A provider who wants to practice four hours every ten days pays exactly what that's worth: 5% of the consultations they complete. Neither the patient nor the provider pays for a service they aren't using.

That structure lines up with Martin's original goal: improve healthcare access without adding cost barriers to entry. Accessibility runs in both directions. Drawing on two decades of industry relationships, Martin gives his providers access to continuing-education programs some of them didn't know existed, in a country spread out enough that continuing education is its own access problem.

Built to cross borders

NetDoctor is still in its early phase, but Martin's vision reaches beyond Argentina. He built the platform's compliance and legal framework as its own layer, separate from the rest of the system. Swap that layer and the platform can operate in a new country. Mercado Pago, his payment rail, already runs across South America.

Argentina isn't the only country in the region with healthcare concentrated in its cities. "Brazil would be a great market to actually fit NetDoctor into," Martin said.

Even so, he isn't rushing. "I'm living what I'm doing right now, I'm not going to rush to the next phase," he said.

He used AI coding to build a system based on years of expertise and domain knowledge, with a goal of improving healthcare access across a continent. Given what he's built in three months, no one should bet against him getting there.
